Jessica is a registered Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry. She qualified as a dentist in 2016, graduating from the University of Leeds with an integrated master’s in dental surgery. Since then, she has held several hospital posts across Yorkshire in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Adult Special Care and Community Dental Services before completing my specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry at The Leeds Dental Institute. She has been registered as a Specialist since 2023 and began her consultant training in September 2024. She has recently completed a Leadership Fellowship with Health Education England and the School of Dentistry at The University of Leeds.
Jessica is particularly interested in helping children who have experienced dental trauma or have unique developmental dental conditions with a passion for acclimatising and treating dentally anxious children. Her gentle, explanatory and patient focused approach acclimatises children to accept dental treatment who may otherwise struggle in routine practice. She is skilled in non-pharmacological and pharmacological behaviour management techniques, including Makaton, British Sign Language, and Inhalation Sedation. She has extensive experience in the provision of sedation and is a SATC-accredited supervisor.
Jessica accepts referrals for any child between 0-17 years, treating those with complex dental and medical needs, neurodiversity, dental anxiety, and special needs. She uses up-to-date techniques and technologies, whilst focusing on holistic, patient-centred care. Her knowledge, experience, and passion for treating all children and adolescents is what makes Thorpe Dental Group special.
